A few years ago I started the Southwest Barrels Positivity Posse. There were 3 young ladies (Taylor, Harley Jo, and Abbie) that were added in and then we moved back to NY and Covid hit so I didn’t expand the Posse. That changed today. The Positivity posse is for young ladies that show positivity, charity, willing to help out when someone needs it, and spread positive vibes.
Let me tell you about our new member Maddy Freeman. A few weeks ago I was doing a QCBRA race and we probably had 175 runners. I was exhausted, we were on runner 165 or so. I had just had 3 or 4 girls talking bad about other riders that were standing behind me. I was discouraged to say the least.
Then a new group of riders came into the holding pen. The first girl starts her run and I hear cheering going on behind me. Kick, kick, go, etc. It was kind of loud and threw me off lol. It was great to hear someone cheering someone on.
After the run I turn around and said that it was great for you to root for your friend. She then tells me she doesn’t know her, she just liked her breast collar and decided to root for her.
You cannot get a better example of someone spreading positivity. Since then I have seen Maddy at a few races and have seen her spread positivity on more than one occasion.
A month or so ago Maddy and I were having a conversation in the holding pen. She had no idea she was going to be added into the Positivity Posse. I had to bite my tongue as I was waiting for the belt buckles to come in. She said to me that I should get t-shirts and have riders buy them because they want to support me. Little did she know I ordered the shirts the day before. I was thinking along the same lines as her. She then showed me her shirt with a small logo on the front and a big logo on the back. She said she liked them like that. Well I had just the big logo across the front. I had to call the printer and change the design because she was right. You can thank Maddy for the idea if you have a SWB lucky shirt.
Knowing Maddy has made my life better. I am sure there are others around her that feel the same way.
